Description

"Philco Radio Hall Of Fame" radio show transcription discs recorded by The American Broadcasting Company.  One complete 30 minute radio program on these two 16 inch, one sided, black lacquer acetate coated aluminum, 33 1/3 rpm discs.  These discs were recorded for reference purposes only and not available to the general public, very rare!

"Philco Radio Hall of Fame" radio program from November 18, 1945 starring Paul Whiteman & His Orchestra with Martha Tilton and special guest Gene Kelly

Guest Gene Kelly, introduced as "Lieutenant Gene Kelly Of The United States Navy", is featured prominently on the show.  Gene Kelly & Martha Tilton do a "Pal Joey" sketch, based on Gene Kelly's Broadway Performance.  Gene Talks with Paul Whiteman about his dancing career, then tap dances on the show.  Gene Kelly sings "Nimitz, Halsey & Me".  There is some groove damage on the disc during this song which cause some surface noise and a skip that played through, no material was lost

Martha Tilton sings "Blue".  Instrumental songs include "One Touch Of Vienna", "Carolina In The Morning" played in 1922 style, "Carolina In The Morning" played in 1945 style

Program is sponsored by Philco Radios with commercials.  One commercial states that a secret radio that was used by U. S. Troops held in a Japanese prisoner camp was manufactured by Philco

Discs are in Excellent- condition with Excellent- sound, beautiful discs

Please note that most standard turntables will not play 16 inch discs due to their size.  For $10 I can make a CD of both discs for the buyer only
