Description
The Gene Esposito Rhythm Section Gene Esposito: piano (trumpet on A4) LeRoy Jackson: bass Billy Gato: drums Salem SLP 4003 mono / deep groove
Lovely example of a rare piano trio LP from 1957. Mostly standards save the one original at B5 ("A Latin's Vamp"). These guys were around in the Chicago jazz scene and played with (among others) Muggsy Spanier, Lester Young, and Ira Sullivan. On this date they play mostly crisp, sparse hard bop. A real pleasure.
Disc is a solid VG+ and plays with minimal noise, though I'd throw this through a VPI. Glossy, clean vinyl. Jacket has seams and spine intact, a beautiful glossy cover, and is only diminished by some writing to jacket back and some discoloration.
