Description
Furtwanglers legendary Production of Beethoven´s Symphony Nr. IX at re-opening of the Bayreuth Festival in 1951, July 26., recorded live. With a superb cast including Elizabeth Schwarzkopf and Otto Edelmann and the Bayreuth Festival Chorus & Orchestra, conducted by master Furtwangler. Original German first grey cloth box with conductor´s portrait, first booklet and original sewed flip sleeves, all in exellent condition (box rear with gold letters shows an old water spot, linen spine edges beginning to tear). Some slight edge wear. Two records, with the very rare early German WALP semi-circle label, thick and heavy vinyl, in absolutely nm condition; looking as new, only some hairline surface marks visible under bright light; full clear sound, almost noiseless vinyl (so in the beginning you hear from the audience coughing etc.) Happy bidding!
