Description
Elektra EKL-248, “Tear Down the Walls” with Fred Neil and Vince Martin, from 1965. This is an original white label promo copy. The vinyl plays almost uniformly at NM with virtually no background sound, though it’s possible to hear a bit of background static on the first minute or so on the outer bands if you listen closely. The jacket is VG++ with strong seams and square corners all around; there’s a bit of age toning and rubwear on the back and a bit of flaring at the opening, but no laminate peeling or cracking. Whether you call it folk, progressive folk, cabaret, or singer-songwriter music, this album has some of the best performances to come out of mid-1960s Greenwich Village. Songs are “I Know You Rider”, “Red Flowers”, “Tear Down the Walls”, “weary Blues”, “Toy Balloon”, “Baby”, “Morning Dew”, “I’m a Drifter”, “Linin’ Track”, “Wild Child”, “Dade County Jail”, “I Got ‘Em”, and “Lonesome Valley”. Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $8.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $18.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. A few record labels such as Folkways may be slightly more expensive to ship overseas. Additional LPs in a single package are $1.00 additional within U.S. and Canada, $2.00 elsewhere. For overseas shipments, registered mail is strongly recommended at $11.75 extra. Many old records are practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be bent in transit and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window. More than two LPs together may be mailed inside a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped. All used LPs are play-graded on a VPI turntable with Audioquest tonearm and Grado cartridge.
