You get one 10 record box set. This is from my personal FZ collection, bought many, many years ago at a collector show. The records are near mint. Most of them were played only once. Has the original multi-page booklet. The box is in pretty good shape. A couple of the corners on the top half are split, but repairable. The front and back cover labels are in very good shape. Please see all of the pictures for the condition. This is being sold "As Is". I will pack this very carefully.

This box set was originally intended to be released by Frank. There was test pressings made. There is a recording of him commenting about this set while listening to the set during an interview(available on the Zappateers website). This is a pretty rare set. I have only seen a couple of these in 40 years of Zappa collecting. This is considered one of the "Crown Jewels" of a Zappa record collection.

There has also been a book written about this set Titled "The Zappa Supplement : A Box of History and the Mud Shark Saga" by Scott Parker and Philip Lee(available on eBay by another great seller) exploring this set. In the year 1969 the rock press began circulating a rumor (or was it fact?) that budding rock genius Frank Zappa was planning a twelve-album box set (or was it five albums?- or nine?- or ten?) of unreleased live recordings (or was it studio?),to be titled The History and Collected Improvisations of The Mothers of Invention.Unreleased recordings by important rock artists often achieve iconic status; consider the Beatles' Get Back, the Beach Boys' Smile, or Jimi Hendrix's First Rays of the New Rising Sun. In each of these cases, public demand eventually led to the release of a post-hoc version of the lost work: for the Beatles, Let It Be...Naked; for the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson's SMiLE; for Hendrix, the MCAFirst Rays compilation.Zappa's History set has been every bit as sought after as these other titles - but has never seen the light of day.Or has it?
