Description

From 1969, one of Frank Zappa's most beloved and influential albums.....'Hot Rats'.  It must be noted that this album came out a year BEFORE the groundbreaking Miles Davis 'Bitches Brew' Lp ....but has that same jazz-rock fusion sound and vibe running through the entire album. Produced by Frank Zappa...it features some of his best instrumental tracks, including "Peaches En Regalia". Captain Beefheart contributes vocals on "Willie the Pimp".  
On offer is a very first 1969 UK pressing of 'Hot Rats' on the Tri-Colored "Steamboat" Reprise labels (RSLP 6356)...having heard several pressings over the years from various countries ....this UK version is possibly the best.  The sound is detailed...the bass well defined....drums have that requisite "punch" ...and Zappa's blazing guitar solos have never sounded as vivid and striking on any other pressing (with the possible exception of the very 1st Canadian pressing)   
Gatefold Jacket:  Excellent+.....very minor wear all around...a bit of age discoloration....spine is fully legible....inner gatefold is clean.....for a 55 year-old copy it is incredibly well-preserved. 
Original Poly-Lined Inner-Sleeve: VG+.....some yellowing...but amazingly without splits.
Record: Near Mint-.....pressed on thick and heavy vinyl, both sides still have that like-new shine.  There are a few pressing/manufacturing blemishes on the 3rd and last song of Side 1 ("Son Of Mr. Green Genes") but they did not elicit any ticks or pops during playback.  Both labels are near-perfect.  I've auditioned this record from start to finish and the sound is everything you'd hope for from a vintage 1st UK pressing. A real gem.
