Description
Frank Zappa Hot Rats UK Reprise RSLP 6356
Stunning pressing of this classic lp.
Matrices RSLP 6356 A1 and B1
When this was first pressed in 1969 it was given a Reprise catalogue number (RSLP 6356). Unfortunately it didn't sell very well. Early in the 1970s (probably sometime in 1972) the lp was repressed with a Kinney catalogue number making this first pressing very rare. Copies of this lp on Reprise are rare enough in any condition: when they are this stunning they are rarer than hen's teeth.
The record is in near mint condition. It is flat and very clean and shiny: indeed it looks almost like new. There are no observable marks in normal light but in very bright light there are a couple of wispy marks that make no difference to the sound which is flawless throughout. There are a couple of spindle marks indicating that the lp has been played a couple of of times but this has made no difference to the quality of the sound or how the lp looks. It will be very difficult to find a better copy anywhere.
The labels are in excellent condition. They are the correct 3 colour "Steamboat" labels indicating a first pressing. They are free from writing, rips, tears or stickers. There are a few spindle marks. Other than that the labels are superb.
The cover is in excellent condition. It is clean and tidy and free from creases. There is some fading to the spine but no other significant flaws (see photo). Without the fading the cover would be near mint as well as the record.
This is a copy that would satisfy even the most exacting of collectors. The fading on the spine is the only flaw and that is not a major fault. The lp is undoubtedly of investment quality. Happy bidding.
