Description
For auction is a 1957 release by Prestige Records--PRLP 7081. The record is titled All Day Long and features the Prestige All Stars---Frank Foster, Donald Byrd, Kenny Burrell, Tommy Flanagan, Doug Watkins and Art Taylor.
This is from an estate and I am not an audiophile but from a visual exam and playing the record through on a small portable turntable with small speakers I would grade it as Very Good Plus. There are some pops during quiet moments and some of what I would call very minor static but no skips and nothing that I believe takes away from the sound by these jazz greats.
I can feel no scratches. There are a few lines that I have photographed which I would call scuffs. I have not tried to clean the record. It is just as it came from the long-time owner. The cover has a split along the top edge from the opening about 8 inches. There are several chips along the bottom edge and some loss of surface at three spots along the outside edge on the front. The corners are rounded and worn. I would grade the cover as Good to Good Plus.
The dead wax is marked by hand with Van Gelder's initials--RVG followed by an A laying on its side on both sides. It is also marked PRLP-7081-A on Side 1 and PRLP-7081-B on Side 2. On Side 2 there is also an incised mark--AB.
