2nd LP by Harlow's Flyte Reaction, who were originally part of the Bevis Frond-inspired school of guitar mayhem, although they always had a unique sound. The band is centred around the very talented Mick Crossley
Strawberry Lip Salvation is even better than the previous album, here is a more general acoustic feel to the music compared to Songs From A Circle and a more pronounced eastern influence as well, particularly on the opening pair of songs Warm Golden Glows and the beautiful Promised You The World. The title track tends more towards fuzz guitar mayhem with a strong contrast between the mellow verse structure and soaring chorus. Real People and Flags On The Moon are more overtly psychedelic. Riverside (Inside You) has a strong feel of Pink Floyd with its eerie organ, echoey effects and subdued chanting and Inner Spacemen goes as far as to use the theme of Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun which forms a disturbing background to recorded CNN footage from the Gulf War. Cubic Space Diversion fuses psychedelia with eastern and Celtic musical elements.
