Description
This is a very rare, absolutely mint-condition copy of the first pressing of Dischord Records' DC Hardcore compilation, "Flex Your Head". Dischord Records No.7, Washington, DC, 1982.........DESCRIPTION: Front cover features a stock photo of a violin, from a selection of cheesy covers available from Nashville Record Productions. Back cover features live photo of Ian MacKaye from Minor Threat surrounded by the audience at a Wilson Center show. Except for Dischord logo, which was hand-drawn, all type on back cover was done with rub-down letters, one letter at a time! Comes with original 8 1/2" x 11" xeroxed sheet for each of the 11 bands, stapled together (again, in MINT condition). Starting with second American pressing (which featured a stock photograph of a wheat field), these individual band sheets were combined into one big poster. Also included is small, quarter-page (4 1/4" x 5 1/2" [108mm x 140mm]) ad for "Hardcore Sampler" from before it had been named "Flex Your Head."......... HISTORY: "Flex Your Head" came out in 1982, and was Dischord Records' first LP, after having put out six 7" EPs the previous year. This compilation record contains songs by a great many early DC hardcore bands: Teen Idles, Untouchables, State of Alert (S.O.A.), Minor Threat, Government Issue (G.I.s), Youth Brigade, Red C, Void, Iron Cross, Artificial Peace, Deadline. (some very sad recent news is of the untimely death of Sean Finnegan, drummer from Void.) ...... CONDITION/PROVENANCE: This record is in absolutely mint condition, and has never, ever been played. Record comes from the punk archives of Jeff Nelson (Minor Threat / Dischord Records), which are being downsized after having been described as "too big" and "insane."
