First press MONO Blue horizon Label 7-68200 A1/B1 Matrices
Mottled Blue Label Design with no stereo box or 's' code in front of the catalogue number - 1st PRESSING.
Wow what an Album...just played it to check quality and list track by track detail to be fair to buyers...given my ears are a lot older than the record!
(Not sure why I am selling it now to be honest!)
Vinyl lots of surface marks (well I did play it a lot as its a great album!) and its 45 years old now.
So how do these marks affect play?
A1 My Heart Beat Like A Hammer - Lovely crisp play
A2 Merry Go Round - Slight scratch so clicks for a few bars otherwise fine.
A3 Long Grey Mare - Lovely crisp play
A4 Hellhound On My Trail - A couple of clicks
A5 Shake Your Moneymaker -Lovely crisp play
A6 Looking For Somebody Lovely crisp play
B1 No Place To Go - Some slight surface noise/crackle to start with
B2 My Baby's Good to Me - A few clicks at the start and a couple later on
B3 I Loved Another Woman - Couple of clicks
B4 Cold Black Night - A few clicks at start of track
B5 The World Keep On Turning - a few clicks at start of track
B6 Got To Move - A few clicks at the start as it fades in...rest lovely.
Overall you might think this makes you wary, but in my opinion the odd background noises identified do not detract from the pleasure of listening to this album overall.
Why this group evolved into that commercial claptrap later on is beyond me. This album showed they had the potential to go on and rival Mr John Mayall for sure!
Cover ...spine has some damage although I can make out BLUE HORIZO Peter GRE 's FL TW MAC 7-63200
Front creases around the peripheries, and a slight tear at the opening. Back fine and inner fine.
Vinyl labels clear and readable but some light spindle marks round the centres which do not impact at all on the all important texts detail.
So being very cautious, overall I rate this against the gold grading system as Vinyl between VG and VG+ and Cover - Good to Good+
I have looked at the other first press mono items starting prices around and believe I have set this pretty competitively/low by comparison
The only ones I could find are:-
a couple of 'New versions' (around the £20 mark plus postage),
A buy it now version ( same as mine mono first press) which is around the half century mark plus postage
And a US buy it now version ( same as mine mono first press) which is around the century of dollars mark plus half century of dollars postage..
........so I leave it to you to judge if I am being fair with my starting price!
Last thing postage is uk mainland only...winning bidder will need to chat with me to agree appropriate postage if not uk mainland
