Description
Mamie Smith And Her Jazz Hounds ?– Crazy Blues / It's Right Here For You Okeh - 4169
You are looking at a beautiful copy of the first blues record. In a very well preserved condition, specially for a record which turns 100 years old next year. The labels look beautiful with very little wear and the record itself has some marks and scuffs, surprisingly just a few considering it's age. Please see photos.
This record represents a landmark not only as the first blues record, but also as the first time in history a black woman recorded and released a record. A symbol of feminism and a huge step for black women which, at that time, faced a very racist and sexist society. "Crazy Blues" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1994 and was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress in 2005.
