Description
Rare mint condition original completely sealed lp record album of Tennessee Williams Reading from The Glass Menagerie, The Yellow Bird and Five Poems. This is "Tennessee Williams readings from two plays and five poems, "Caedmon, TC 1005, 4th printing 1960 (first edition Warhol cover for this album). Album cover by Andy Warhol. Full Length LP Record. This most beautiful cover featuring Warhol's blotted line technique at its best early pop art excellence. Commissioned especially for this LP of Tennessee Williams reading from The Glass Menagerie, The Yellow Bird and five other poems. This record had been released previously with the same catalog number but with different artwork not by Warhol. This fourth printing version with Warhol's illustration was first released in 1960 - interesting to note that Caedmon changed address in this year and re released the album with slightly different cover colors. The album is in super condition, like new, completely sealed with no unusual wear. No breaks to seal…completely sealed all around! There is one original small circle shrink air hole in the sleeve front upper right (above the "S" in "Williams"). Original 89 cents sticker label on front (on outer seal)…this label does cover the Warhol signature a bit. Clean and bright with sharp corners and edges…cannot get any better!
This Caedmon release features Tennessee Williams reading from "The Glass Menagerie," "The Yellow Bird," and five poems. (The poems are:" Which Is My Little Boy," "Little Horse," "Gold-Tooth Blues," Heavenly Grass," "Kitchen-Door Blues," and "My Little One." In addition, the cover features a rainbow design and line drawings by Andy Warhol. The LP was recorded in June, 1952.
