Description
This is a loverly copy of the original pre concert original pressing of FD 55 from 1967. This is not the later reprint that is almost identical to the original - but of little value.
This poster is also known as 'God's Eye' and a beautiful rare San Fran concert poster by Victor Moscoso.
This 1st print poster has traditionally been one of the most difficult of the FD series to identify as the second print is not only labelled 55-1 but it is very similar in size and colour. Although the paper of the original is meant to be black light sensitive I have found this test to be a challenge to definitively identify an original.
Fortunately Eric King in his updated poster guide describes the recently found way to definitively identify the original and I have included the text and helpful images in my listing. This is based on a discovery of a series of corresponding dots in the borders of the first press that are not on the 2nd press copy.
The discovery of small matching ink dots on the 1st press poster has now made identification much simpler but even so I have compared my copy with other authenticated originals and found a perfect match every time. In fact it is not just these 2 ink dots that match but many others all the way around the light blue border giving me absolute confidence in the accuracy of this new means to identify this poster.
The poster is in excellent unrestored condition. No rips holes folds or tears or fading . There are some light mark on the reverse where some framers tape was professionally removed but it is only a mark NO paper loss or damage to the poster.
