Description

We are privileged to have acquired Dave Swarbrick's personal record collection, and are delighted to present it to the market for a limited time (please scroll down for specific details of this record...)

The collection includes several rare and sought-after items, including many on which Swarb played, either with Fairport Convention, in his solo capacity, or in collaboration with artists such as Martin Carthy, Simon Nicol and others.

LPs by Swarbrick's contemporaries such as Sandy Denny, Richard Thompson and Nick Drake also formed part of his vinyl music library at home, and are offered for sale alongside other rare and collectable folk LPs from the 1960s, 1970s and later.

Buyers can enjoy the knowledge that they have acquired a record directly associated with the UK's best-loved folk-rock legend - straight from his private collection.

To mark this one-off sale a limited number of certificates, signed by Swarb, will be available to early buyers providing documented authentication of his ownership.

Please see the "Swarb" section in our e-bay shop for a full list of items being offered for sale, and feel free to e-mail us with any questions. Check our feedback and buy with confidence.

We also supply a broad selection of brand new vinyl LPs, including many high-grade vinyl reissues and audiophile pressings, spanning folk/roots, blues, jazz, soul, rock and pop.

We buy your good condition vinyl LPs and 45s - from entire collections to individual items - as well as rock and pop memorabilia such as tour programmes, concert tickets, signed items, promo materials, etc. Please contact us if you want to do a deal!

Best wishes, Classic LPs.

Item for sale:

Unhalfbricking UK vinyl LP.

Island ILPS 9102, 1969.

First pressing: pink label with black circle logo.

This is Swarb's personal historical copy of the classic third Fairport album, which marked his arrival into the fold.

On it he plays fiddle on Cajun Woman, A Sailor's Life and Si Tu Dois Partir, and mandolin on Million Dollar Bash.

Unhalfbricking was a pivotal record, a point of transition which married the band's US influences with the English folk tradition to take British rock music in an entirely new direction.

It was a style that would find its full voice a few months later on Liege and Lief. Richard Thompson has said he prefers Unhalfbricking to its more celebrated successor.

As Swarbrick's own copy, this item is being sold as something of an historical artefact, with a unique connection to Fairport at a time when their artistic creativity was at its peak.

Details of condition:

Vinyl EX to EX+, with one light mark. There is some occasional scuffing to the edges of the run-on groove (play entirely unaffected).

Labels EX+.

Sleeve EX+, with negligible light creasing.

Comes with authentication certificate signed by Swarb. Packaged securely to arrive safe and sound. Insurance optional (but recommended!)
