1969 Island ILPS 9102 ILPS 9102 A/1 / ILPS 9102 B/1 Vinyl EX++ just the very very lightest of trace scuffs from the sleeve, it's incredibly clean with the sweetest audio Our auction items are cleaned on a Vpi HW-27 Typhoon Record Cleaning Machine! Labels EX+ just the very lightest trace marks. Sleeve etc VG++ very light handling and shelf wear, trace bend marks but nothing very visible click on the images to enlarge!scans are always of the actual item for sale! Incredibly clean vinyl, this sounds almost as if it was unplayed until a few days ago... it's approaching 50 years old so that's a minor miracle in itself..
The original 'block' Island label logos are clean, crisp and look fresh as a daisy. The vinyl is mirror-smooth and clean. The sleeve is the very first press too, it's been through a few hands but still looks nice although not mint it's easily VG+
But really it's all about the sound. On these very first Island pressings the audio was crisp and clean. It is an amazing example of how audio can be archived over the years on the humble vinyl LP. If it's been kept well (it has) and even better if it's never been played? We can't be 100% sure it was never played (before we cleaned it and recorded it one time on a very high end system) but it might as well have been because there is barely any blemish to the sound. No distortion of Sandy Denny's high octane vocals, no clicks to mar 'A Sailor's Life's' quieter moments, in fact if you love this album you'll be blown away by how fresh it sounds.
The LP was until recently in the hands of a retired Island employee and it's quite clear that Fairport were not this person's favourite tipple because this one has survived pretty much flawless. Their loss is your gain.
Opportiunities like this don't come around often so if you want a clean sounding very first pressing, this is your chance. Don't miss it!

PAYMENT:

Payment must be completed within 7 days of end of auction (or items may be re-listed). Please contact us before bidding if you cannot do this.

Refunds:
We will glady refund where we have made a mistake in the listing such as: Wrong item, item not as described, etc. (We'll need the item back!)
We do not automatically refund for accidental damage or loss in transit.
Feedback:
We can only leave positive feedback (or none) but we think good buyers should receive good feedback.
In return we try to provide the best service and we ask that you leave positive feedback for us if you are happy with our service. Remember it's still voluntary!
Star Ratings:
