A BREAKDOWN OF THE ARTIST/S :-

Formed from the ashes of the defunct UK mod act the Small Faces, this quintet comprised Ronnie Lane (Born 1 April 1946, Plaistow, London, England, d. 4 June 1997, Trinidad, Colorado, USA; bass), Kenney Jones (Born 16 September 1948, Stepney, London, England; drums), Ian McLagan (Born 12 May 1945, Hounslow, Middlesex, England; organ/piano), Rod Stewart (Born 10 January 1945, Highgate, London, England; vocals) and Ron Wood (Born 1 June 1947, Hillingdon, Middlesex, England; guitar). The latter two members were originally part of Jeff Beck's group. The Faces' 1970 debut First Step reflected their boozy, live appeal in which solid riffing and strong gutsy vocals were prominent, but also found room for McLagan and Stewart's poignant "Three Button Hand Me Down". The excellent follow-up, Long Player, enhanced the band's appeal with its strong mix of staunch rock songs and well-chosen cover versions, including Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "Big" Bill Broonzy's "I Feel So Good".

Throughout this period, Rod Stewart had been pursuing a solo career which took off in earnest in the summer of 1971 with the worldwide success of the chart-topping single "Maggie May". At that point, the Faces effectively became Stewart's backing unit, much to the annoyance of the other members. Although they enjoyed increasing commercial success with the album A Nod's As Good As A Wink ... To A Blind Horse and Ooh La La, and a string of memorable good-time singles including "Stay With Me" and "Cindy Incidentally", there was no doubt that the focus on Stewart unbalanced the unit. Lane left in 1973 and was replaced by Tetsu Yamauchi (Born 21 October 1946, Fukuokoa, Japan; ex-Free). Despite further hits with "Pool Hall Richard", "You Can Make Me Dance, Sing, Or Anything" and a live album to commemorate their Stateside success, the Faces clearly lacked unity. In 1975, Stewart became a tax exile and by the end of the year announced that he had separated from the band.

Following the break-up of the Faces, Wood went on to join the Rolling Stones while the remaining members briefly teamed up with Steve Marriott in an ill-fated reunion of the Small Faces. Jones also replaced the deceased Keith Moon in the Who. The Faces unexpectedly reunited for a one-off appearance at the BRIT Awards in February 1993. They performed with Rod Stewart, and with Bill Wyman taking over the seriously ill Lane's role on bass.

THE RARITY OF THE RECORD :- Third releases from The Faces and rare 1st pressing

THE VINYL VISUALLY :- On initial inspection the vinyl sits perfectly flat on the turntable and retains an original deep shine and looks beautifully clean for a 39 year old record. I cannot see any major areas of concern

THE VINYL PLAY GRADED :- On play grading this fantastic record I have found it to be a very clear and vibrant sound that hasn't lost any of it's magic over the past 39 years. It certainly hasn't been overplayed, there are only some signs of static and crackle, but only heard in quiet areas & inbetween tracks generally, these will more than likely go away once the album has been played and cleaned a couple of times by its new owner. Overall I would say the vinyl plays to an Excellent condition

THE SLEEVE FRONT CONDITION :- This is the very earliest 1st press matt sleeve. There are no seam splits and only signs of shelf and rubbing wear at the corners and top seam. It still retains most of its original feel and sheen even after 39 years. Matt sleeves are notoriously difficult to keep in good shape but this one is a fine example. I would rate the cover as Very Good Plus condition

THE SLEEVE REAR CONDITION :- A matt rear cover with  full track details and production notes, there is also a picture of the band in Thunderbird puppett form, there are no stickers or writing which frequent albums of this age. As previously mentioned Matt sleeves are notoriously difficult to keep in good shape but this one is a fine example. I would rate the rear as Very Good Plus condition with only the same shelfwear that is displayed on the front cover

THE LABEL SIDE ONE CONDITION :- Original green Warner label in near perfect condition free from stickers or writing and no damage at all, only slight signs of minimal plays around the spindle hole.

THE SPINE CONDITION :- The writing on the spine is clear, no spine splits at all just signs of shelfwear in the corners.

We use a Project 6 Perspex Turntable to play grade our records which delivers a rich authoritative sound and achieves a rich and weighty vibrancy unrivalled by the majority of decks within its price range

HOW WE CLEAN YOUR RECORD :- 

We use a V.P.I. HW-16.5 record cleaning machine to clean your vinyl. "A highly recommended machine" as quoted by Stereophile magazine. This removes any excess dirt before playing

HOW WE PACKAGE YOUR RECORD :- 

Your record will be package very securely to minimise any risk of damage during transit. We remove the record from the outer sleeve unless asked not to do so. This helps to minimise the risk of seam spliting. We use a high quality record mailer which is designed to give superior protection for your vinyl record. We place stiffeners either side of the record for added protection. The album will also be placed in a 450 gram Poly outer sleeve for even extra added protection
