Description

LEGENDARY 1951 BAYREUTH FESTIVAL RECORDING     PREMIER COPY!!

Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125         Wilhelm Furtwangler conducting the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra and Chorus

Soloists: Elizabeth Schwarzkopf, soprano; Elisabeth Hongen, alto; Hans Hopf, tenor; Otto Edelmann, bass

Electrola HMV WALP 1286-87: Red bound box, red back, Gold lettering on jacket edge    Original First German Pressing: thick, heavy, flat vinyl

Stampers: 2XRA  16-1; 2XRA  17-1; 2XRA  18-1; 2XRA  19-1           GOLD SQUARE (not triangle!) on ALL 4 LABELS!

All of these indicate EARLIEST, RAREST First Pressing---yet both LP's are NEAR MINT (no marks on vinyl, no spindle marks)!!

Each record has an individual gatefold jacket, as well as a printed paper sleeve, within the box

An examination of previous ebay sales on Popsike: only later editions, or much inferior, sold for under $760.

Several of those above $760 were not, to say the least, immaculate. Nevertheless, I'll start bidding below this.

This set is easily the equal of,  if not BETTER THAN,  even the $1600 copy!!

Please do not pay before receiving MY invoice.

I am retired, with an extensive (over 10,000) collection of classical LP's, and want to pass them along to other  (younger) lovers of classical music .Thus, I am open to offers on ALL of my listings. However, since, my financial situation requires that I help support myself, I must ask for realistic offers only.
