RARE MAY '69 BOXED PROMO COPY OF THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK RECORDING OF FUNNY GIRL STARRING BARBRA STREISAND AND OMAR SHARIF, album inside fancy linen-grained box with gilt lettering on the front, box is very good-plus (structurally sound with strong lettering but a bit worn and discolored at the edges, and with a little age spotting on the white interior; album cover is excellent - extremely bright and clean, album sleeve is very good-plus with numerous tan age spots; record is perfect and looks like it hasn't been played).
The film adaptation of the smash stage musical FUNNY GIRL was released by Columbia in 1968. William Wyler directed from the screenplay adapted by Isobel Lennart, who wrote the play's book. Barbra Streisand and Omar Sharif starred, supported by Kay Medford, Anne Francis and Walter Pidgeon. It was a big hit and nominated for 8 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Supporting Actress (Medford), Cinematography, Sound, Editing, Music - Original Song ('Funny Girl"), and Music - Score. It won a Best Actress Oscar for Streisand (who tied with co-winner Katharine Hepburn for A LION IN WINTER). The "note" from Barbra to her fans on the cover of the box reads:  May your days always be clear... love & thanks, Barbra / May '69.
You can find copies of this LP soundtrack FOR SALE ONLINE. The other one on eBay (not boxed, not a promo) has a good cover and a very good LP and is listed at $6.60 + $15.19 shipping. I couldn't find a matching copy of the one I'm selling on either eBay or via a quick Google search, so it's rare.
The winning bid includes shipping in a cardboard box via media mail, which takes around 7 days. It's a great Streisand collectible.
