Time to hang up my bins, I need the cash, I need the room. These are records I've bought over the years or had sent to me new as promos. You can see from the photos below what my front room looks like!!!
I've been DJ'ing worldwide for years and I now give DJ lessons in my own home and I've found that this really works for improving DJ's in a funky house style. DO YOU NEED A FEW DJ TIPS?
What I've done is constrct a ready-made set in order, bearing in mind that an hour's gig is between 12-16 records (averaging about 14 for funky house) I've listened to each of them individually and mixed them exactly in order myself.
Start strong in a set, with a blinder of a tune and end even stronger with a wicked play out track OK?

Remember to note which mixes I recommend for this mix. As you practice this set over and over, you must remember to replace one track with one of your own to keep the set sounding fresh and up-to-date (e.g. Armand Van Helden - My My My would fit very well in this set) so when you buy a new favourite record you will create a well-practiced set which is bang up to date all the time!

- LOUISE - ARMS AROUND THE WORLD (HOUSE REMIXES) (PROMO) This girl has it all!! This is a superb vocal-driven house track, on 12" PROMO, Tune!! - everyone knows this and will be singing along!!! (*note* use the Farley & Heller Fire Island Vocal Mix)
- HOLLOWAY & CO - I'LL DO ANYTHING TO MAKE YOU MINE (PROMO).. and the dance floor will fill up with this terrific production! .. OLAV BASOSKI on the remix duties...Lyrics and a great B-line to keep the crowd going! Nice and dancy as we build up... (pitch up to +4 at this point)

- KRISTINE W - ONE MORE TRY (CHAMPION PROMO) This disc from a promo triplepack was remixed by none other than JUNIOR VASQUEZ and DAVE MORALES, a real timeless classic that's a good length, allowing you to have a pee break and give you time to prepare for your finale,. - and to end on....SHAPESHIFTERS - LOLA'S THEME (DOUBLEPACK 2X12" PROMO)- a corking 2004 track!! Oh......HUUUUUGE names behind this......gets all the girls on the dance floor, remember, get the girls on the floor and the boys will follow! Fits perfect to make the crowd remember your name!! Being a huge fan of Eric Prydz, for such works as Oliver Lieb Pres. Smoked - Metropolis (Eric Prydz Remix), Futureshock - Pride's Paranoia (Eric Prydz Mix), etc, I was most looking forward to hearing what he could achieve with this house summer anthem. The bassline is very powerful, typical of Eric Prydz. The track builds quite powerfully, and we are introduced with stabs of synths shortly followed with a superb acid line. This remix is a much more 'techy' interpretation, with very powerful synths making it a quality acid house tune. There are some very unusual effects used, particularly towards the end of the track where Eric Prydz makes excellent use of some very strange sounding synths. This is certainly a very interesting take on the original.Right then, DJ lesson over for today, happy bidding and happy spinning and GOOD LUCK!!
