Description
Artist: FUNKADELIC
Title: “Maggot Brain”
Label: WESTBOUND. Stereo pressing on medium weight vinyl. Label is multicolored with black text. Catalog number is WB 2007.
Year: 1971.
Condition: (Note: I try to grade conservatively using the Goldmine grading guide.)
DISC: Vinyl is in solid VG+ condition and retains much of its original gloss. Some slight signs of wear: a few light paper scuffs and hairline scratches which result in some soft tics and occasional light surface noise, mainly audible during the quieter passages. No serious marks or issues otherwise. Labels are clean. Overall, a very fine disc that plays well and sounds fantastic.

JACKET: This is a beautiful gatefold ‘unipak’ jacket in VG++ condition. There is minimal wear to the matte cardboard panels – all images are clean and bright. Ringwear is almost nonexistent, and spine wear is likewise minimal. Corners remain sharp, there are no seam splits, and very minimal wear along the crease of the thin unipak cover. Not a cutout. Overall, this is a fantastic jacket to go along with the disc, one that you’ll likely never need to upgrade.

Update, Tuesday 11/10: In the interest of grading conservatively, I want to adjust my disc condition grade so that any bidders can have the most information at this early stage of the auction. I'm not changing my description of the disc, however I am grading it instead as a solid VG, bordering on VG+, primarily due to the light paper scuffs, hairline scratches, and a few scratches that are more visible cosmetically, but do not affect play. Having play tested the disc, there is, as I said, light surface noise and some soft tics during the quieter passages, e.g. during the beginning of the title track, however by no means does this overpower the music. Furthermore, the album really cooks during the heavier tracks. This thing's cut loud and makes for an incredibly enjoyable listening experience.
