Description
This is a superb copy of a rare album! The cover has some creases and ring wear, but the lamination is really good with very little lifting. Unusually this is a first issue cover, meaning that this is one of the first copies of the 1969 reissue. It has the indicator hole at the top of the back cover, used to denote the stereo (blue) or mono (red) of the original first pressing copies. In addition, the insert lists both the original catalogue numbers for the mono and stereos issues, so it’s also left over from that first run of just 600 copies.
The record itself is beautiful, with a real lustre and no surface marks. It has very little in the way of surface noise, with just some pops and crackles on the lead-in grooves and between tracks keeping this at VG+. Indeed, a fifty-year old record has no right being this good! To add to the overall package, the disc comes in its original blue (stereo) Decca bag.
All-in-all this is a beautiful copy of that first Genesis issue, before the band settled into the fantastic progressive style that shaped their career for the next decade.
