The very first super heavy vinyl is found in two label varieties, both super rare and both TEXTURED!! 

The debut album from one of the UK’s most respected rock bands. This is probably the only album in their catalogue that can truly be classed as ‘blues-rock’, with quite a few of the songs being slow tempo and fairly dark and even sombre. All the four members were under 20(!!!) when this classic set was recorded and although highly rated this failed to chart in the UK and only just scraping into the top 200 in the US. With such few sales, all the pink Island pressings are elusive, but the very first format pressings are incredibly rare especially in barely played condition.

Few survive in decent playing conditions with even respectable covers that are highly wear-prone. Although it has a fairly raw, not particularly polished production, it still has immense power and detail and this copy sounds fantastic and plays with nothing unwanted.

The absolute rarity of this album is not to be underestimated. It hardly ever surfaces nowadays. This is an absolutely gorgeous slab of early quality ISLAND vinyl which is in great condition!! This has a lovely deep glossy sheen!! Hauntingly beautiful songcraft!!! Immense quality progfblues album that ticks all the right boxes and incredibly hard to find. I have twentyfive years experience in grading. It doesn't get much better than this!!

A CLASSIC  LP THAT SHOULD BE IN EVERY QUALITY PROG/PSYCH/BLUES COLLECTION - if you cannot buy this you should at least try and get a re-issue and enjoy!

The surfaces display blazing  gloss with only a few hairlines under an intense light. There are also a two tiny marks towards the end of each side but these cannot be heard and have NO impact on replay, the audio is supreme, hardly ever any static or and certainly NO clicks!!!

!!!!A VERY HARD FIND!!! Most have been bought up by collectors!! This is hardly offered these days!!

In all my years this is only the second time I have come across this PROGMONSTER. Immensely scarce and probably one of the hardest albums to find on Island!! Sensational sound quality, I have played this through in its entirety and it was a great joy!!! NO skips or jumps. NO clicks or crackle, this is really a stunning heavy glossy jet black vinyl .The audio is impeccable. Inspected under an intense lightsource and angled.

Vinyl: VG++ .  A sensational find!!! I have played this in FULL twice over> The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! Tremendous audio!  I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more detailed observation. Only a few wispy hairlines can be seen under a strong lightsource. Two tiny marks that have no impact on replay, this is a totally enjoyable earliest classic album. Fantastic songcraft!! A personal favourite of mine and I am very glad to be able to report that this is a fine slab of vinyl without any problems at all and as such worthy of inclusion of any great prog/blues collection.  Of course NO jumps/clicks/skips etc.

Gatefold Sleeve: EX.  A rather sensational sleeve rarely found in this superb condition. Serious collectors will know this cover well enough to know just how intolerant to wear and abuse it is. Ask yourself, when was the last time you saw this at a record fair or even in anyone’s collection that had little wear? – all the early examples wear badly and is one of the most intolerant Island covers ever issued. This is certainly one to view and enjoy and not hide away waiting for a better one to come along soon. With so many originals looking tatty, tired and badly worn, often with deep creasing and ringwear, this is an exceptional example AND original. Only Ernest J. Day printings are ‘original’.

Labels: EX+!!! Unmarked. these are the very desirable ROUGH TEXTURED labels. Smooth labels are found on later presses and are likewise ultrarare as are the pink "eye" labels. None scarcer though than this label!!  Please look at the pics!!
