RECORD CONDITION: SIDE ONE IS VG++. SOUND IS NM. THERE ARE LIGHT BUFFS ON THE SIDE, BUT DO NOT AFFECT PLAYBACK OR SOUND. SIDE TWO IS VG++/VG+. IN SECOND CUT THERE ARE NINE POPS THEN QUIET. REST OF SIDE's SOUND IS NM. ENTIRE ALBUM PLAY GRADED. COVER IS VG+. SOME MINOR WEAR ON SEAMS, CORNERS AND REPAIRED TWO INCH CRACK ON BOTTOM SEAM WITHOUT TAPE ON REPAIR. TWO ONE INCH PIECES OF TAPE ON TOP OF EACH BACKSIDE CORNER.   TOP RIGHT CORNER DARKED WITH BLACK MARKER FOR ONE INCH BY PREVIOUS OWNER. NOTHING UGLY (SEE PHOTOS FOR DETAILS). SPINNEL MARKS ON BOTH SIDES. LABEL ON SIDE TWO HAS SMALL AIR BUBBLES FROM ORIGINAL STAMPING (SEE PHOTO). GOOD CONDITION FOR A 45 YEAR-PLUS ALBUM COVER. THIS WOULD BE OTHER DEALERS HIGHER GRADING, BUT I AM VERY CAREFUL ABOUT MY GRADING. LISTED CONSERVATIVELY. RECORD CLEANED USING A 16.5 VPIMACHINE. ORIGINAL BLUE INNER SLEEVE.

The review states,“Freddie Hubbard's first recording as a leader, Open Sesame features the 22-year-old trumpeter in a quintet with tenor saxophonist Tina Brooks, the up-and-coming pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Sam Jones and drummer Clifford Jarvis. This set shows that even at this early stage, Hubbard had the potential to be one of the greats. On the ballad ‘But Beautiful’ he shows maturity; other highlights include ‘Open Sesame,’ a driving ‘All or Nothing at All’ and ‘One Mint Julep.’ It's an impressive start to what would be a very interesting career.“

GRADING: Sealed LP’s are noted in their description. I grade by both visual inspection and play. Mint is not used. Near Mint is my highest grade and should play problem free; VG++ should play problem free or with noted shortcomings noted in write-up.  VG+ is listed with any shortcomings noted in write-up. My description will be accurate. All items guaranteed, but I do not refund shipping costs.

I recommend all items that sell at $100.00 plus be shipped insured. Because of the value of some items, I may at my discretion require insurance. FREQUENTCY OF SHIPPING: I do try and ship as quickly as I can, but sometimes it can take a week or so to send items out, depending on how many orders I have. Note that media mail can take three weeks from when I receive payment.
