Description
Here is an original US white label promo pressing of Fred Hughes's DON'T LET ME DOWN b/w MY HEART CRIES OH classic soul 45. Disc is graded EX, as it has a small "s" on the b side of My Heart Cries Oh and the disc has only the most minor signs of hairlines on either side, only visible under bright light and this disc was maybe played only once or twice, including by me. I have played both sides and they play great. This was issued on VEE JAY 718 in 1966. This is a rare and classic Northern Soul favorite, and features a solid lead vocal with female back up, and the A side is a motown-ish reverb laden chugger, with piano and horns. Builds with tom and bass drum gallop and breaks into a tighter snare hi hat groove. Really nice track. My Heart Cries Oh is a mid tempo soul cut with a much drier straight forward recording. Good horns on both sides. From a pile of hoarded promos I picked up. This one is a nice copy of this vintage RnB Soul 45. See the photos of the disc to see the condition.
