FRED FRITH LIVE IN JAPAN 2 VINYL RECORD BOX SET. Japan only release by Recommended Records Japan, RRJ 003/004.
SUPER RARE, OUT OF PRINT. This was hard to find even when it first came out!
I bought this new back around 1982 and it has been in my record collection since then, heated and dry, smoke free home. This set is in really nice condition considering its age.
Description: Includes printed corrugated black box (2 color), 2 vinyl records in original sleeves, in plastic but not sealed. 8x10" booklet, fold out b&w poster, smaller 2.5x5" booklet.
Condition:
Corrugated Box - overall very nice, same condition as when i bought it. Minor indentations/impressions in the corrugated on front, minor corner wear. Top cardboard strap at top on back was torn and I repaired, barely visible and not seen when box is closed.
Records - The Guitars On The Table Approach, Vol 1 & 2. Records have never been played. Clean clean clean. In original sleeves, this is the first time they were taken out of the box for the photography, both record sleeves are in plastic sleeves, not sealed, they never were. They came open ended. Records and sleeves are as new.
Booklets/Poster - Larger booklet is as new, printed mostly in Japanese. Approx 8x10" Smaller booklet (approx 2.5x5") as new as well. Poster folds out, slight crinkle lower right corner, more visible from the back than the front.
RARE & OUT OF PRINT - hard to find a copy this nice these days for sure.
Very rare Japanese only album by electronic/guitar composer Fred Frith, of Henry Cow fame on Recommended Records. Very very limited release and very obscure. Box set is COMPLETE, with two LP's in cover, small brown booklet, larger japanese booklet and miniposter in wrap around printed corrugated box.
Live in Japan is a 1982 double live album by English guitarist, composer and improvisor Fred Frith. It was recorded during an improvised solo performance tour of Japan in July 1981. The double album was a limited edition release of 1,000[3] by Recommended Records Japan[4] on two LP records in a black corrugated box containing posters, artwork and booklets in English and Japanese. It was also released as two single LPs, entitled Live in Japan, Vol. 1 and Live in Japan, Vol. 2.
On Live in Japan, subtitled "The Guitars on the Table Approach", Frith continued his pioneering guitar work he began on his landmark [5] 1974 album Guitar Solos. Comprising eight improvised pieces taken from four concerts in Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka and Maebashi in 1981, Frith used an old 1961 solid body Burns guitar, built by British craftsman Jim Burns, a homemade six- and eight-string double-neck guitar created by a friend Charles Fletcher, and a battered violin. The guitars were laid flat on a table and "played" by plucking, scraping and beating the strings with a variety of found objects. Frith also wore a WW II pilot's throat microphone to amplify his periodic vocal utterances. The same microphone had been used by Frith during some of the Massacre concerts held earlier in 1981.
