Description
This is an original Stereo debut double LP by The Mothers of Invention called Freak Out! on Verve Records V6-5005-2 from 1966. I bought this from my brother about 30 years ago. He bought it along with several other albums, from a friend that he was in the service with in the late sixties. He never played it. I only played it twice, once to record to cassette and again to play grade it for this listing. There are a few faint scratches on the first two sides including a scuff near the end of Side 2. That side also had two scratches that were more visible. I couldn't feel them to the touch though. Side Three and Four have some light marks under a bright light but nothing serious. THE RECORDS PLAY AS FOLLOWS: Side One plays very nice VG+ with excellent tone and sound. There is an occasional light click on this side, and also two pops between "Go Cry On Somebody Else's Shoulder" and "Motherly Love." Side Two plays VG. There were three clicks in "Wowie Zowie." This side played with muffled sound. Side Three plays a nice sounding VG+ but had clicks in "Help I'm a Rock." Side Four plays a very nice VG++. There are no skips or sticks on any side. The records are in their original inner sleeves. The cover has the ad in the bottom right corner of the gatefold for "FREAK-OUT HOT-SPOTS". The cover looks nice but has some seam split so I will grade it VG. There is about an inch of seam split at the top opening, and about two inches at the bottom opening. Both of these splits are on the right side of the gatefold. There is about a half inch of seam split at the bottom opening on the left side gatefold. There is also wear on the bottom corner points. The back cover is a little wavy. This is mainly at the center on the right and shows no sign of a stain. It sounds a lot worse than it looks. It is actually a solid, nice looking cover. It does also have the first owner's name on it on both sides inside the gatefold.
