Description

FOR AUCTION:  FRANK ZAPPA & THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION ABSOLUTELY FREE (VERVE V6/5013). This is the blue label stereo pressing from 1967. This is one of his best and in this condition its an audible treat. This is the best copy I have ever had or heard!!!

CONDITION:    Vinyl =  VG+++ (8/10) There are 3 finger nail scuffs that do not affect play. They merely show up because the rest of the vinyl is so black and shiny. I have cleaned and played this record and it sounds awesome. Nothing but deep, rich roomfilling sound front and back. Still retains its original luster. No background noise, hiss, cracks, pops, dissapointments, etc.... The kind of vinyl that Shot In The Dark is known for!!!

Cover = The cover is in NM (9/10) condition.  Bright Vivid color inside and out of the Gatefold Cover. Hard to believe its 42 years old. All seams are intact and there are no punch/bb holes, cut-outs, pen/pencil marks, creases, disappointments, etc... just a Great cover!!!

 Labels = Near Mint (9/10)

Grading System:

Mint = only reserved for Sealed/Perfect Lps 10/10

Near Mint =  the record may have been played once or twice on good equipment. Near Mint vinyl should sound New when dust is cleaned off and the records played with a properly aligned cartridge and good needle. A Near Mint cover should be one that either looks new or still has the shrink wrap on it. Near Mint is usually reserved for record collectors that don't mind spending premium in order to get the best quality copy of a recording. 9 out of 10

Excellent = I don't do Ex! Be weary of dealers peddling this Ex grade! It can mean everything from "frisbee" to Vg+. Its just another way to confuse record buyers on what the record will be like when recieved. No reputable "Old School" Dealer will grade anything Excellent!!!

Very Good + = VG+ is a grade that I use for most lps that have been played a handful of times with care. It may have one or two scratches (should not be feelable with finger) that DO NOT affect play or some sleeve scuffs from being pulled and played. When put on your record platter a VG+ record should sound great. There should not be background noise (when properly cleaned) or pops, skips, or any other distracment from the music. You should be able to listen to a VG+ record time and time again and enjoy it. 7,8 out of 10

Very Good =  Record has been played and played and played. Record will have background noise. Maybe a pop or skip on certain tracks. Covers will have seam splits. A pretty unattractive piece of vinyl. 4,5,6 out of 10. Unless its very rare I do not list VG records. My moto is "If you can't play and enjoy it, it ain't no good"  I grade according to Goldmine standards. I strive to keep my feedback 100% positive!!!
