FRANK ZAPPA "Broadway The Hard Way" 1988 UK 1st PRESS
GATEFOLD SLEEVE w/LYRIC INNER, BARELY PLAYED TOP COPY

FRANK ZAPPA
Broadway The Hard Way

HERE WE HAVE A SUPERB, UK ZAPPA RECORDS (ZAPPA 14) FIRST PRESSING (October 1988) OF FRANK ZAPPA'S OVERTLY POLITICAL LIVE LP "Broadway The Hard Way" ALL IN BEAUTIFUL BARELY PLAYED, NEAR MINT CONDITION
Two tracks, "Dickie's Such an Asshole" and "The Untouchables", contain material which does not appear on the CD version

The first live album compiled from various performances on Frank Zappa's 1988 world tour (his final outing), Broadway the Hard Way is composed mostly of new, vocal-oriented material.
The tone throughout is highly political, with Zappa taking potshots at such targets as Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Pat Robertson and other televangelists, Jesse Jackson, C. Everett Koop, and so on.
Despite Zappa's well-deserved reputation as an acute satirist, his sarcasm is often surprisingly humorless here, leaning toward didacticism; his choice to name names and address his subjects explicitly, rather than through metaphor, also renders the album instantly dated, almost like a late-'80s standup comedy routine.
Despite these flaws, many of Zappa's political observations hit the mark, as do some of the jokes, easily making Broadway the Hard Way one of his best and most intellectually stimulating post-'60s political efforts.

THE LP IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL GATEFOLD SLEEVE AND COMES COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL LYRIC INNER SLEEVE

MATRIX NUMBERS: ZAPPA-14-A1 X DMM / ZAPPA-14-B1 X DMM (both sides etched "TOWN HOUSE DMM MAX")

Track Listing:
Side 1: Elvis Has Just Left The Building (2:24) / Planet Of The Baritone Women (2:48) / Any Kind Of Pain (5:42) / Jesus Thinks You're A Jerk (9:15)
Side 2: Dickie's Such An Asshole (6:37) / When The Lie's So Big (3:38) / Rhymin' Man (3:51) / Promiscuous (2:03) / The Untouchables (3:05)

LABELS: CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO wear, NO writing and only a couple of light spindles on one side and none on the other. THIS COPY HAS CLEARLY HARDLY EVER BEEN PLAYED
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces have their original DEEP, LIKE-NEW, GLOSSY SHEEN. There are some superficial marks/hairlines caused by the lyric inner but these have NO audio consequence
VINYL Audio: The audio reproduction is SUPERB - CRYSTAL CLEAR, SHARP, STRONG and VIBRANT. There are NO scratches, NO jumps, NO sticks, NO clicks/pops and NO surface noise and the LP plays to an impressively high standard with NO groove-wear and NO distortion (its practically unplayed) and must be very critically graded NEAR MINT for audio. NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page)
SLEEVE: The original gatefold cover is in EXCELLENT+ condition. CLEAN and BRIGHT with practically no wear and the original lyric inner is also in SUPERB condition with NO wear or splits. The LP is now housed - and will be posted in - a new inner to prevent any 'knifing' damage to the original during transit
