“APOSTROPHE (‘)”
MEGARARE original Warner Bros. – Seven Arts Records (W7) very first STEREO press released in 1976 in Chile by Asociación Fonográfica Nacional “ASFONA”, M.R. (ASFONA Records), licensed from Discreet Records Inc., “a Warner Bros. Inc., U.S.A. Recording”, with orange/black W7 Records labels, catalog number DS 2175, with hand etched matrix numbers DS-2175-A EB-C in Side A and DS-2175-B EB-C in Side B. In the deadwax of both sides is written the exact day of pressing, “5-1-76” (January 5th of 1976). Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!! And WHAT A SUPERB CONDITION!!!
“APOSTROPHE (‘)” was originally released in 1974 and it seems we had to wait a long time to see this great album released in Chile, because it was only released in 1976 here. In Chile this album was released as part of the Asfona Records collection called “SERIE ESPECIAL DE LUJO” (Deluxe Special Serie) with same artwork like original issue, with a flipback cover made of 2 single pieces of thin cardboard with front cover pasted in the flips. Front cover keeps the original artwork with all text in English only, with ASFONA Records logo at the top right corner. Back cover keeps the same original design but blue tinted, the tracklist and all credits are written in English only, the only difference with original issue is that below WB Records logo it’s written “SERIE ESPECIAL DE LUJO”, in bottom left corner is the logo “EL DISCO IS CULTURA” (The Record Is Culture) and at the bottom is written “Editado Y Distribuido por “ASFONA” M.R. Santiago De Chile – Fono 83877”. It’s also interesting to see that in back cover the sides are identified as “Side One” and “Side Two” but in labels they are “A” and “B”, and in labels the title of the album is written “APOSTROPHE!”!!! Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from this side of the world!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in great VG- or VG condition, clean and complete, but evident wear in the edges and corners, creases, some blemishes and notorious age browning in back cover, with light ring mark but no rips or writings and only initial seam splits. The record is in superb EX or EX+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, but with some minimal scuffs and light hairlines, hard to see, with a light scratch in Side B if you look the record in angle, which don’t affect sound at all. Labels on both sides are in stunning NM or NM+ condition, absolutely clean and clear, no marks, no writings at all, with only minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is the best part, it’s in strong NM- or NM condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), only some minimal occasional light crackles here and there, almost impossible to hear, which of course don’t cause any distraction from the great sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end, most of the songs play in absolute NM+ condition!!! Overall a fabulous record, not for Minty minds who look for perfect covers, but with a cover still in decent shape and a record with still a nice glossy look and an amazing sound quality after 38 years!!! WOW!!! And keep in mind the UNIQUE COVER, with date of pressing in the deadwax and UNIQUE TITLE “APOSTROPHE!” in labels!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!! A MEGARARE PRESS of a famous and classic rock album released in Chile!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the cover and labels in detail.

_________________________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
