Description
Frank Zappa’s 200 Motels, the original motion picture soundtrack featuring The Mothers of Invention and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Released October 1971 on United Artists Records, catalog number UAS-9956. This is the original 1971 US first pressing, confirmed by the characteristic “(RE-)” notation etched into the dead wax of the matrix runout, consistent with the documented original US pressing variants. Gatefold double LP. Produced by Bizarre Productions for United Artists Records. Music composed and orchestrated by Frank Zappa. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was conducted by Elgar Howarth. The Mothers of Invention lineup includes Mark Volman, Howard Kaylan, Ian Underwood, Aynsley Dunbar, George Duke, Jimmy Carl Black, Martin Lickert, and Jim Pons. The film also features Ringo Starr and Theodore Bikel. Live recording facilities: The Mobile Rolling Stones. Overdubs and remix: Whitney Studios.
The original 16-page illustrated booklet is included in NM condition. The booklet’s front cover is the MPAA Certificate of Approval and Rating No. 23033 for 200 Motels, dated June 23, 1971, rated R, produced by Murakami Wolf Productions and Bizarre Productions, distributed by United Artists Corporation. The interior contains full production notes, film photography, musical score excerpts, and personnel credits.
Please note the vinyl grading carefully. This is a double LP with auto-coupled sides: Record 1 contains Side 1 and Side 4, Record 2 contains Side 2 and Side 3. Side 1 grades G+. Side 2 grades VG. Side 3 grades NM. Side 4 grades NM. The gatefold cover grades EX.
Please refer to all photos for detailed visuals of the vinyl, jacket, and sleeve as customers have varying standards for grading criteria.
