Description

The FRANK CUNIMONDO TRIO - "Communication"

Regional (Pittsburgh) private pressing LP by the legendary Cunimondo on his own 'Mondo' label (Mondo Records 101).   Famous for the tracks he later recorded with Lynn Marino - "Feelin' Good", Love So Fine" and "We've Only Just Begun" - and his other albums Sagittarius and Echoes - this is his first album.  For tracklist on THIS album, see my scan.

Condition:  Labels are NM.  Visually graded, record is only a STRONG VG due to many light surface marks and a couple that are a little more than that). But there's nothing that can be felt and record has all of it's original gloss.  Therefore it play-grades at VG+ (good sound, low-level surface noise, mostly noticeable in the dead wax between tracks). NOT close to Near Mint but still 'nice' and very enjoyable both to listen to, and to have in the collection.  Cover has one seam split (on bottom edge, towards opening; about 2.5"); seams and spine otherwise good.  Front cover has very light white ringwear.  Back cover has very slight discoloration and an address stamp.

With Ron Fudoli and Spider Rondenelli.

From Wikipedia: Frank Cunimondo has a long discography, having recorded with nearly every artist from Pittsburgh. In addition, he has shared the stage with a number of jazz stars including: Sonny Stitt, Lou Donaldson, Jimmy Witherspoon, Urbie Green, Lee Konitz, Louie Bellson, Joshua Redman, Stanley Turrentine, Red Garland, Dodo Marmarosa, Bill Perkins, Phil Woods and Frank Rosolino. His most popular recording, "Feelin' Good" which he recorded with Lynn Marino, is an international hit and has been sampled and used in a number of European dance mixes.

In addition to performing, Frank Cunimondo has a long career teaching jazz piano. He has previously taught at Duquesne University and currently teaches at the University of Pittsburgh and at Carnegie Mellon. In the 1980s he owned a jazz club in Pittsburgh called "Cunimondo's Keyboard Jazz Supper Club." In 1989, he was voted "Best Jazz Pianist" in Pittsburgh. His style is most often compared to pianist Bill Evans.
