GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie vengono controllati sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i 33 giri in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1. Per EP e singoli a 45 giri utilizzo un Thorens TD 166 BC con testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All LPs in auction have been fully heard on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge. I listen EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : Francesco De Masi è certamente stato uno dei migliori compositori Italiani di musiche da film. Tuttavia e contrariamente ad altri suoi colleghi non ha mai avuto commissioni importanti, forse per il suo spirito libero poco incline a compromessi. Maestro come pochi altri nel comporre e dirigere musiche per grandi orchestre, riesce a dare evidente prova del suo talento grazie a una perfetta fusione fra strumenti "meno classici" come la chitarra elettrica, il basso, la batteria, effetti elettronici e partecipazione di un orchestra tradizionale. I vari brani sono quasi sempre caratterizzati da ritmiche rapide, violente sottolineate da batteria e percussioni con frequenti incursioni rock della chitarra elettrica, basso pulsante, sax e fiati. La presenza dell'orchestra non contrasta l'individualità di questi strumenti ma fondendoli armonicamente esalta le loro sonorità. Alcuni effetti elettronici danno ancora maggior sapore ai brani. I temi sono generalmente cupi con atmosfere sonore che riflettono avventura, pericolo, violenza, inseguimento e tensione.

Notes : Francesco De Masi certainly has been one of the best Italian film score composers. However, and contrary to other colleagues never had important commissions, possibly for his free spirit  and little inclined nature to compromise. Maestro like few others in composing and directing music for great orchestras, can give clear demonstration of his talent by means of the perfect fusion between not too much classical instruments such as the electric guitar, bass, drums, electronic effects and the participation of a traditional orchestra. The various tracks are almost always characterized by fast, violent rhythm underscored by drums and percussions with the frequent rock intrusions of the electric guitar, pulsating bass, sax and other brass instruments. The presence of the orchestra does not contrast the individuality of these instruments, but blending them harmoniously highlights their sound. Some electronic effects give even greater taste to the tracks. The themes are generally dark with sound atmospheres reflecting adventure, danger, violence, tension and chase.
