“This Is a Call” to all Foo Fighters Fans, I’m offering this original vinyl debut album!! FOO FIGHTERS DEBUT 1995 Vinyl ROSWELL C1-34027 ORIGINAL US First Press NM/VG+. The first album from 1995. Vinyl absolutely NM+, the jacket VG+. Some wear to the jacket, a small scratch on front of jacket probably from when I cut-off the shrink when I bought it, new in 1995. Original US First Pressing Roswell / Capitol Records. Pressed at Specialty Records Corporation, where I worked for many years (“SRC” monogram in the deadwax.). Vinyl is glossy, NO PROBLEMS!
Frontman / Foo-Founder Dave Grohl’s masterpiece! Do you realize that he himself basically did this whole album by himself? Except for maybe 3-4 songs. We’ve got crossover-connections here to Nirvana, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Pearl Jam and others. Dave Grohl originally recorded almost all of these songs, by himself, on his old 8-track recording machine. Vocals, playing all the instruments and music. Amazing. Take a look at young Dave on the inner picture sleeve (Mint condition.). Dave was with Nirvana at this early time. He got 100 vinyl records and 100 cassette tapes originally made, and went and passed them out for FREE on the street. Kids said Nirvana was their favorite group, he said here, try this. Dave knew as a personal friend the President of Capitol Records, and thus was able to get signed-on. Of course his tapes went around the industry execs. Tom Petty encouraged him to pursue his solo material—at first he wanted Dave in his band—but after he heard this material….
Released July 4, 1995. Recorded in 7 days at Bob Lang’s Seattle Studio. The gun on the front cover, photo courtesy of Jennifer Youngblood, is a Buck Rogers XZ-38 Disintegrator Pistol LOL (from the 70’s Buck Rogers TV show!). Of course the whole them with the artwork and the Roswell Records Name, and the Foo Fighters name (from WW2 Pilots reporting UFOs up there—they called them Foo Fighters; this is way more than a legend, guys. I’ve talked to some of these guys, they definitely saw something up there. Gremlins was another name used;) the whole thing is related to UFOs. Dave Grohl has said he threw these song lyrics together quickly, and admitted they did not have much meaning or made much sense. More recently, he says when he listens now, they do make some sense.
LOL I worked with this girl who used-to say, I thought it was Food Fighters. Many ppl did. Oh good times guys, good times. Crowd-Surfing at shows lol. Not as much as Eddie Vedder and and Pearl Jam, but yeah, definitely. I heard This Is a Call and I was sold (the song being a Shout-Out to Dave’s friends all who encouraged and supported him.). Other released singles here are For All the Cows, Alone and Easy Target and Big Me. To name some. Believe me, many of us were resistant to Alternative. But obviously Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters among others, we f-ing loved. Several months later in ‘95, this album hit Gold. Later Platinum. THANK YOU for looking at my records.
