FLUTE & VOICE Imaginations Of Light (Pilz 20 21088-2) RARE German 1st Pressing EX
RARE German first pressing of the debut album by Flute & Voice, "Imaginations Of Light" on Pilz Records (1971).
"A German duo consisting of two multi instrumentalists, Flute & Voice is totally devoted to "world" and acoustic experimentations combined with rock. The guitarist Hans Flute Reffert (whose reputation is strongly approved in Mannheim region) formed the band with Hans Voice Brandeis in 1969. They soon discovered a common interest in Indian sitar. At the beginning of the 70s, this duo provided an inventive "ethnic" rock sound with an abundant use of sitar and raga ingredients. Their music is a fantastic cross section of different moods and musings: Dancing flute lines, jazzy and folk guitar accompaniments, and a mysterious tone provided by the sitar. The communication between the instruments is full of beauty and introspection.
Flute & Voice recorded their first album Imaginations Of Light in 1970. In 1973, they recorded the second album of their career Hallo Rabbit. They gave many performances in Germany in clubs or during special festivals (Jazz Festival Frankfurt, 1972). In 1974, the band disappears after Brandeis' move to Berlin. - Original fully laminated gatefold sleeve.
- A number of creases (about ten in all) to the spine.
- Minor corner scuffing, mainly to the bottom.
- Light corner crease on front cover (at top right).
- Also includes the original plastic-lined inner sleeve in undamaged EX condition.
VG RECORD, obviously well-liked and played quite a bit.
- Visually excellent vinyl on both sides, with passable audio reproduction throughout.
- Fairly consistent hairlining to both sides that causes recurring background crackle.
- The record has a number of small ticks (about 5-6 in all) that cause a few minor, sporadic ticks or pops. However, no recurring clicking or popping whatsoever.
- One or two superficial scuffs cause some recurring swishes toward the end of each side (on "Thoughts", Side One and "Notturno", Side Two).
- Original first-pressing Pilz Records labels in EX+ condition, with some visible hairlining on Side Two only.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "A - 0392 A 1/C 3 A" and "A - 0392 B 1/C 3 A", respectively.
- This issue of "Imaginations Of Light" is fully certified to be a very first German pressing, released in 1971.
Finally, a note of caution: Often selling in the €500 range, the cult classic "Imaginations Of Light" is a highly collectable rarity in any condition. However, please do not place a bid expecting this to be anywhere near MINT condition: It isn`t. The first bid price is a reflection of the overall condition of this specific record.
