You are viewing my exceptionally rare vinyl album from 1971 by Japanese Progressive rock band, ' FLOWER TRAVELLIN' BAND' entitled, SATORI. Released on the ATLANTIC label, this stereo recording has reference number P-8056A.
"The band was initially started as a side-project by Yuya Uchida when he returned to Japan after visiting his friend John Lennon in England in the mid 1960s, where he was introduced to various upcoming artists such as Cream and Jimi Hendrix. Yuya wanted to introduce a similar sound to the Japanese, and formed the "Flowers" as a cover band with various group sounds musicians, and two vocalists; male singer Chiba Hiroshi and female singer Remi Aso. They released the album Challenge! in 1968, featuring covers of songs by Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Jefferson Airplane and Big Brother and the Holding Company, in addition to an original song. The cover caused a stir in the Japanese media as it depicted each member posing naked."
The rare earliest versions of this album entitled, 'SATORI', display the purchase price of 2,000 Yen on the reverse of the gatefold sleeve - this cover displays that 2,000 Yen price! (refer to photograph 3). This is a genuine Atlantic release distributed by WARNER BROS - PIONEER CORPORATION, TOKYO, JAPAN.
The matrix numbers are (side one) P-8056A1 and (side two) P-8056A2. I understand this to be a FIRST PRESSING issue.
The album itself is in very good condition, it is bright and clean however there are some visible surface marks which does produce some background noise on the quieter parts of the recording and between the tracks. There are no sticks or jumps. I grade this album as being VG+ on both sides.
The album cover has some age discolouration and light wear to the spine. I do not consider the wear to be unsightly. The artwork on the inside covers are bright and clean, being free of any marks. I strictly grade this album cover as VG+.
In short, this is an extremely rare record that is supremely difficult to find, it is not in mint condition however it plays well and looks superb.
This vinyl record will be posted in a good quality cruciform style record mailer.
