Description
The group's self-titled debut album (Long Play record only) was recorded mid-1978 at Sound 80, and was supposed to be a direct to disc project. However, 3M Company put an experimental 50.4 kHz digital recorder in the control room as a backup to the direct-to-disc lathe. Like all direct-to-disc recordings, the band was required to play the entire LP side without stopping, and without any editing afterward. When the resulting Acetate disc was deemed inferior to the digital master tape, the record was pressed from that digital backup tape, making it the second ever U.S. commercially available digital recording. Since the machine used was an early experimental prototype, built before any digital recording standards were established, and dismantled before 1979, there is currently no way to re-issue that first album on either Vinyl LP or CD.

Glossy Gatefold Cover is NM with only a few minor “ring” impressions and one other minor issue (an area on the left upper back cover where someone has left the impression “300 BH” in the cardboard of the cover. This is not writing or ink marking, just a few depressions that look like those letters and numbers. They may have been written on an overlaying piece of paper, leaving behind the depressions – very hard to find and see). Included is the original plastic inner sleeve with a lightweight sheet of paper encapsulated between the 2 back sheets of the envelope/sleeve.
Vinyl is NM with a few superficial surface scuffs.
