What Beatles were for Rock’n’Roll in general, and British Invasion in particular, what Otis Redding was for Soul, what James Brown was for Funk and Bob Dylan for singers/songwriters of all kinds, THE FLAMINGOS (and MOONGLOWS) were for doo wop and vocal group sound of the late 1950’s. If you are only familiar with one of The Flamingos`  songs - their classic mega-hit "I only have eyes for you" from 1958, you are missing A LOT - and doing this awesome group a great, grave injustice. Wait until you hear THIS!!! Starting with the 1955’s much loved (and still reigning) doo-wop anthem "Golden Teardrops" and on through the years, THE FLAMINGOS created some of the most heavenly vocal harmonies known to the human ear (and brain). Any of their albums - whether on "CHECKER" or on George Goldner’s "END" label is highly collectable and much sought. This rare 1960 album assembles - for the first, last and only time – almost all of their legendary 1953-54 "Chance" single records on an ANALOG medium. This is a proverbial Mount Everest of Doo-Wop Vocal artistry, and a must-have for any serious collector of the vocal group music of the 1950’s and 1960’s

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial  and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant).For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record has a "deep groove" (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings).

(c)           The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2 (front side) and 3 (back side)

-        Cover has the original price sticker, which may be possible to remove with a little effort (we did not attempt to)

-        Cover has a small quality control (inspection) stamp on the back panel  (slightly smeared)

-        Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging. (nothing significant)

-        Some shelf wear noted on the seams (nothing significant)

-        Cover has one corner slightly worn / dinged / bent (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No writing

-        No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-        No peel-off marks

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No water damage

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
