Another from my personal collection! This is the original 1st UK pressing of Manfred Manns 1st ever UK studio album released in 1964,,and in ((mono)),, incredibly over 47 years old!! This is in awesome condition, condsidering its age. The audio is absolutely superbe throughout and plays through cristal clear and very vibrant throughout and looks and sounds like it has had only minimal play only and has certainly not been over played in my opinion! The vinyl has been play tested at loud volume using a dedicated mono cartridge and is graded at least excellent plus in my opinion. This is complete with the original HMV record sleeve and Garrod & Lofthouse flipback cover. Very collectable and highly sought after like this! Features the M.T. tax code stamped on side 1.

The Five Faces of Manfred Mann is the first studio album by British beat/R&B group Manfred Mann. It was first released in the United Kingdom on 11 September 1964 by His Master's Voice. In late October/early November, the album was released in Canada by Capitol Records. The Canadian track listing was almost the same as the UK version, except it included the hit "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" instead of "I've Got My Mojo Working". The record has been called "one of the great blues-based British invasion albums; it's a hot, rocking record that benefits from some virtuoso playing as well".[4] The American version of the album was released in February 1965 by Ascot Records (a subsidiary of United Artists)[5] with a very different track listing.

Manfred Mann was a British Beat, R&B and pop band of the 1960s, named after its South African keyboard player and founder, who later led the successful 1970s follow-on group Manfred Mann's Earth Band!

Beginnings 1962–1963

The Mann-Hugg Blues Brothers (as the band were originally called) were formed in London in December 1962 by keyboard player Manfred Mann and drummer/vibes player Mike Hugg.

Born out of the British blues boom then sweeping London's clubs (which also spawned such luminaries as the Rolling Stones and the Yardbirds), the band was completed by Mike Vickers on lead guitar, Dave Richmond on bass, and Paul Jones fronting as lead vocalist and harmonica player; by this point, they had changed their name into Manfred Mann & The Manfreds.

Gigging constantly throughout late 1962 and early 1963, the band soon attracted attention for their distinctive sound propelled by Mann's keyboards, Jones' soulful vocals and an occasional horn section.

The group signed to HMV Records in March 1963 after a change of name to Manfred Mann (at the suggestion of their label's producer), and debuted in July of that year with the jazzy instrumental single "Why Should We Not?", which failed to chart, as did the follow up (with vocals this time), "Cock-A-Hoop"!

The Vinyl

This is the original 1st press 1964 heavier and thicker type of vinyl with deeper grooves (only 1st press) later press were much flimsier and less robust.

On initial inspection this vinyl looks stunning for nearly 44 years old. Awesome glossy sheen is still retained from new! Any marks that could possibly be seen angled to the light would be sleeve removal only and importantly non audio sounding.

The Audio Quality

I have played this through track for track a couple of times prior to listing, at very loud volume on a top system,, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge. The audio is truely awesome! Cristal clear and vibrant throughout with no signs of grooveware or that this has been overplayed at all! In fact this vinyl has had very minimal play in my personal opinion. I heard (no) clicks or pops during the audio! in fact even between tracks any surface noise is minimal (quite unbeleivable for a 47 year old record) I would class myself as highly critical please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right! It is my conclusion that after hearing this awesome sounding vinyl and the fat that there are very minimal spider marks that this has been barely ever played at all!!!! Top! top! mono audio at its best!! Audi graded at least excellent plus in my opinion!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have played this vinyl track for track on a top system at very high volume,, and have given my honest opinion when desribing the audio quality! Please allow for the odd static tick\crackle (not onsistant throughout the audio!! Please remember this is a 44 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 44 year old system! I never heard any problem and found the audio rated at the top on all frequenies!!!

Points to note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years! This would benefit from a constant clean before each play! Build up of dirt and dust over the years causes static crackle,, and a constant clean before eah play reduces this and greatly enhances the audio quality!!!!

The Labels

These feature the HMV labels in superbe condition ''sold in the UK.....'' is featured (only 1st press) the M.T. tax code is stamped on side 1. (only 1st press) Very minimal spidering can be seen angled to the light (in my opinion this has had only minimal play) Little if (no) spindle ware the hole is perfetly round!

The record Sleeve

This is the original HMV advertising serpier (poly lined) with no splits or tares! Just light general creasing staining fading with age only rarely seen complete!

The cover

This is the original 1st issue 1st UK press Garrod & Lofthouse flip back cover! Laminated at the front which has amaizingly has just minimal creases in the laminate only to talk about (very minimal) the corners are generally square. There are no splits or tares Please note, there is a catalogue number written at the rear top right (These are normally seen very grubby) this has very very feint signs of ageing\staining with age (nothing too bad) minimal creases at the flipbacks but this cover is strong and straight a truely awesome original. Graded at excellent in my opinion!
