Arrigo Pedrollo (born Montebello Vicentino, 5 December 1878 - died Vicenza, 23 December 1964) was an Italian composer. His father was his first teacher; at thirteen he went to study at the Milan Conservatory. Among his teachers there was Gaetano Coronaro. At his graduation in 1900, Pedrollo's only symphony was performed, under the direction of Arturo Toscanini. He chose instead to compose operas in a Wagnerian cast; in 1908 his first, Terra promessa, was premiered in Cremona. His second, Juana, won the 1949 Sonzogno Prize. Between 1920 and 1936 six more of his operas saw their premieres. In 1922 he became the head of the Conservatory in Vincenza. In 1930 he returned to Milan to teach composition at the Conservatory there; he held that post until 1941. Pedrollo retired at eighty-five, five years before his death.

No one is a prophet at home. So it was with the pianist, composer, conductor Arrigo Pedrollo, better known abroad than in Italy, which marks the 50th anniversary of his death on December 23. He toured Europe and met Richard Strauss, Jean Sibelius, Edvard Grieg, performed in theaters in England, Poland, Belgium, Russia, studied in Milan and taught at Padua, but his musical adventure began in the Vicenza.
BY MONTEBELLO. In this town is the birthplace, a simple house to '81 Via General Vaccari where an inscription on the front reads: "Here was born on 12/05/1878 Arrigo Pedrollo risen to glory for musical genius" and was baptized in this house 5 January 1879. At Montebello, the father Luigi parish church organist and conductor of the band in the country, I went to the musical career with an early public debut as a child already able to play piano works by Bach and Chopin. In the biography written by the maestro Bruno Munaretto and published in 1932 he reads: "He followed his father, bandmaster in Montebello and organist country, neighboring countries, and, at age twelve, already knowing very well the piano and the organ, replaced more than once, the father absent or ill. "
A ORGIANO. In September 1888 his large family moved to Pedrollo Orgiano, where the promising musician he met the Countess Elisa Marsilio Orgian Piovene that in 1877 he bought the villa Fracanzan. The noble woman with a passion for music, were engaged in the Pedrollo as organists to accompany the celebrations in his private chapel, and surprised by the ability of the young, supported him in his studies at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan, where he entered in 1892. After graduation began the tour in Europe where she performed in theaters, hotels and spas. In Saint Moritz he met the painter Segantini and composed a song inspired to plan a painting.
A LONIGO. On the evening of October 23, 1892 was inaugurated the Municipal Theatre of Lonigo with Ballo in Maschera by Verdi and Donizetti's La Favorita, he directed the master Ubaldo Zanetti. Saturday, March 12, 1912 was staged Aida, "Management is entrusted to the master Pedrollo we can almost call our fellow citizen, he being of the nearby Orgiano, known in the art also appreciated as a composer." The theater season spring matched the famous horse fair and that 1914 saw the staging of the opera Juana the young teacher, met with "huge success" by the public Leoniceno. Pedrollo was always loved and appreciated at the City of Lonigo and 26 March 1949 when we conducted the Lucia di Lammermoor chronicle anticipated "the orchestra of 40 elements will be fed directly from the conductor tireless and conscientious, sensitive and energetic which is the teacher Arrigo Pedrollo ".
IN THE CITY. In 1941 the musician left Milan and settled with his wife Ada and her daughter Anna Maria in Vicenza, taking over the Musical Reeds and teaching at the Conservatory Pollini of Padua. In the city rented the old house of Bertagnoni beginning of Via Veneto where he remained for ten years, then he moved in that city and went back to Vicenza in the early '60s and settled in Via Maccà, where he lived until he died in 1964. In the city he frequently works at the Teatro Olimpico, the Greens and all'Eretenio and started the tradition of concerts in Piazza dei Signori, the nights of 3 and 4 July 1946 we walked the 150 orchestra members engaged in Nabucco . "Music of very high pace, volume, slow flight of arches gifts will be the superb framing the stage ... architectures and hard asprigne will be the walls of this unique theater ..." wrote Professor Cevese. Today the music conservatory in San Domenico, in Vicenza, bears his name.
AD ARZIGNANO. In 1951 he was inaugurated the music school named after Vivaldi-willed entrepreneur musician Antonio Pellizzari who entrusted the presidency to Pedrollo. In teaching, the teacher was always respectful of young talents and "... never in his classes or in the correction of school work, he tried to impose his own way, his own judgment that could damage the free development of personality those who turned to him to learn. "
The school was short-lived and already closed in 1955 due to the death of the industrialist who in honor of the seventy-fifth birthday of the master, organized and conducted at the Teatro Olimpico concert-tribute dedicated to him.

Quick note on grading:

The Grade (Excellent to Fair, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately

When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to F), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"SUPERQUIET" is basically noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an exceptionally quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example without undue noise for a give pressing.

These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.
