Original UK 7" single released on Timebomb Records in 1978. Comes in a picture sleeve. Hand-stamped labels.

Fire Exit started in December 1977. Gerry Attrick (vocals) met Brian (guitar) and they agreed to start a band called "Fire Exit". The name came when they looked at the nearest sign - and that was it! They brought in Billy Holland on bass and then had to find a drummer, which wasn't easy as there weren't a lot of Punk drummers about in the Glasgow/Paisley area.

The band practiced and then started gigging all over the place in colleges, universities and bars. They then decided to go to London to cut a single as they couldn't find a studio in Scotland that could give them the sound they were looking for. The band started to gig in London and it was at this time they brought in a new drummer called Andy.

In August 1979, Fire Exit got into Waterloo Studios owned by Pat Collier the Vibrators bassist. They recorded 'Timewall'/'Talking Bout Myself' and Pat helped with the production and engineering. The single was released on the band's own record label Timebomb Explosions Records (TBE1). They continued to gig regularly in London and the single did very well - all 2,500 of them sold out in about 2 - 3 weeks.

Fire Exit met a promoter called Mike Always (later involved in Cherry Red Records) who helped them out by attracting offers from record companies. The band wanted to keep it DIY but nearly lost it when they signed to Decca Records (Burlington Music) although nothing was released by the label.

More gigs followed, including one at Stonehenge with the Poison Girls and the Fatal Microbes, however, the band started to drift. When Gerry returned to London from Glasgow to set up a tour, Brian told him Andy & Billy had gone AWOL.

Sleeve is in G condition (looks like it has been exposed to damp. Small tear top edge. The original DIY sleeves were folded and taped - the tape has perished and gone - no tearing as a result of this but there is tape residue)

We offer combined shipping on all LPs / 12" Vinyls: our shipping rates are listed above. HOWEVER shipping packages that weigh more than 2kg is VERY expensive. Therefore we can only offer combined shipping up to a maximum of SEVEN (7) LPs / 12" vinyls. Any extra purchases will be invoiced, packaged and shipped separately.

Sorry but I am no longer willing to carry combined transactions beyond two weeks of auctions (see below).

PAYMENT

I would appreciate payment within seven days of the auction’s end. If you want to bid on more of my auctions ending a week later please inform me. I will wait and issue a combined invoice at the close of the second week’s auctions.

However, I am no longer willing to carry combined transactions beyond two weeks and in these cases would appreciate payment promptly after the close of the second week’s auctions.

I am sorry to have to introduce these measures – I always try to be patient and allow buyers to bid on extra auctions and / or delay payment. Unfortunately some buyers have been stretching out transactions to unacceptable lengths so I feel I have no option but to limit ‘carried over’ transactions to two weeks.
