There are two sessions on this LP. The first was recorded on September 13, 1948 and includes, Fats Navarro on trumpet, Wardell Gray and Allen Eager on tenors, Tadd Dameron on piano, Curley Russell on bass, Kenny Clarke on drums and Chino Pozo on bongo. They play SIDE 1: LADY BIRD (alternative take); LADY BIRD; JAHBERO (alternative take); JAHBERO; SYMPHONETTE (alternative take) and SYMPHONETTE. The second session was recorded on October 11, 1948 and features Fats Navarro and Howard McGhee on trumpets, Ernie Henry on alto, Milt Jackson on vibes and piano, Curley Russell on bass and Kenny Clarke on drums. They perform: SIDE 2: DOUBLE TALK, BOUNCING WITH BUD; DANCE OF THE INFIDELS, THE SKUNK (alternative take) and BOPERATION. The address on the label is 767 Lexington Ave, N.Y.C. On SIDE 1 in the dead vinyl is engraved “RVG.” ON SIDE 2 is engraved a partial “EAR.” This is a Mono recording.

I have rated this LP as M-/VG+ for the following reasons. The vinyl receives a M- rating, as there is no sign of wear on either side of the LP. There is also no sign of wear in or around the spindle hole. The record jacket is in excellent condition but it receives a VG+ rating. There is little sign of wear on the cover or on the liner notes. There is a circled D/E.X.” on the right top corner of the liner notes. There is a very small tear on the top right seam, which is taped, to prevent further damage.
