Hi, I am Mike, a music collector for over 30 years now. I try, to the best of my ability to describe as accurately and as honesty as I can all items I offer for sale with all the relevant information I can think of to help any interested collector. You may notice I do not flood my Ebay site with large numbers of albums at one time: time does not allow it as I Play-Grade every record I offer (on a Rega 3 deck with Ortofon cartridge) - visuals alone do not always tell a true or full story - I will mention any defects or flaws no matter how small that I notice to be fair as possible to any interested collector. Every record I offer, whether it be a common or rare item deserves the same treatment as far as I am concerned and will be treated with the same respect. All the pictures I use for your guidance are taken with my digital camera or scanned - they are NOT improved, cleaned-up or made better looking than they are with camera trickery or enhancing with digital programmes. Label and Condition: Pink Island with large white i logo (Please see label scans). Two beautiful deep pink examples that are super clean and only show light spindle traces.

Rarity Factor: Scarce, clean copies on the Pink label are never easy to find.

Album Information: Following the wonderful What We Did On Our Holidays and the sublime Unhalfbricking Fairport Convention issued for me one of the greatest albums ever made: forget any folk categories for this monumental album. For any listener who appreciates fine music and do not care for ‘folk’ will love this album. This is real folk rock and has some of the most sublime songs and performances ever recorded. Featuring the strongest ever line of this legendary band: Sandy Denny, arguably the finest female vocalist the UK has ever had; Richard Thompson, certainly one of the finest guitarists and songwriters with his very distinctive style; Dave Swarbrick, violinist extraordinaire; Simon Nicol; Dave Mattacks and Ashley Hutchings - almost a supergroup. Every song on this legendary album is a classic. - beautiful songs, including ‘Matty Groves’ a song of forbidden love and dreadful revenge ending in a blistering solo from Swarbrick. Also the haunting ‘Farewell, Farewell’ a song of such rare beauty it never fails to give me a lump in the throat, Sandy’s vocals are just sublime. This copy on offer is one of the finest I have ever seen, the cover is superb (never an easy one to find really nice and clean) and the record is in lovely shape and plays beautifully. This copy is one for the connoisseur collector.

Cover Condition and Details: Mint(-). gatefold, printed and made by the E. J. Day Group, London and Bedford. A superb example of this difficult cover: never laminated and pale coloured, this is usually found in worn, rubbed and grubby condition. Well this one bucks the trend and has little of this - a copy as clean as the day it was bought and a cleaner one you will not find easy.

Cover Lamination: None

Cover Front: Very clean and attractive, no grubbiness whatsoever. Hardly any rub traces at all and no creasing, nothing more than the odd surface mark and these only show when viewed under angled light. Viewed under normal conditions this front looks close to perfect. The gatefold is folded a fraction out of square but only a few mm, a minor gripe.

Cover Back: Pretty much the same and no dreaded ringwear, again often seen on this one.

Cover Gatefold Inner: Again superb, there is a faint hairline running across the bottom but this looks like a manufacture ‘fault’, this detracts very little - most wouldn’t even mention it.

Cover Edges: Just a hint of a light rub trace no the bottom edge only, all other edges are superb. This spine, always delicate on this one, is almost like new, no rubbing or freying, all its text is pristine like new. Any cornerwear is extremely light and all are solid and square. All round a supreme example of this fragile cover - this I am sure will please all collectors.

Vinyl Condition: Mint(-), clean and shiny and showing nothing more than faint surface traces or an odd very light hairline - all superficial and nothing sounds. This is a wonderful piece of vinyl that Fairport fans will relish in their collection. My play-grade revealed a record that plays as good as it looks with superb sound. A lovely vintage Island pressing suffering no surface sounds, pops or ticks. Quite honestly this copy looks little played so no sound degrading at all. A finer copy you will not find easily. This record gives me that rare tingle factor that only very special recordings can - and believe me this album is very special.

Final Summary: Truly a copy for the serious collector: just holding this fine album gives me pleasure. Timeless beautiful music - Denny and Thompson never sounded better than on this groundbreaking album - a combination that were perfect. An album imitated a thousand times but never equalled and it never will be - as essential as any album ever made - sublime.

Europe: £4. This is covered up to £28 (45 Euros) insurance and would be sent 1st-class airmail. A recorded airmail service is now in place for Europe too: this means any item will be fully covered to its true value, No customs sticker is needed for Europe, so this is a worthwhile investment. This costs extra £3, the item is tracked and the item has to be signed for - I will use this service to Europe as standard for very expensive rare items e.g. records over £75.

USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and other Far Eastern countries etc: £5.50. This is covered up to £28 (43 US Dollars) insurance and would be sent 1st-class airmail. Please note I do not profit on postage (my packing standards are high and the package weighs a little more).

Extra insurance is available for non-UK items but bear in mind I have to state the true value of the item on the parcel and customs would be aware and you may well get charged import duties.

PLEASE NOTE: I will NOT use surface mail, its too slow, with a higher risk of loss and damage.

Mailing Details: All records are sent in plastic covers with the record taken out of the sleeve and sent in professional mailers with a minimum of TWO stiffners for extra protection. More expensive items are also inserted into a de-luxe heavy duty padded bag AS WELL to give that extra protection and three or four stiffners. I truly want ALL my items to arrive to their destination in the same condition they leave me.
