Fairport Convention : Full House A3/B3 1st Press (Pink Island Label)

This genuine first pressing on the pink Island label is spectacular!  It is a FINAL UPGRADE pressing in that it could not play any better.  The clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is exceptional and 'as new' describes it perfectly.  This is without question one of the finest 50+ year old year old records I have ever seen or heard.  It is visually stunning and looks like it was just purchased from a record store yesterday...and not a second hand one!

The textured cover is exceptional with barely any wear and the original 'Plastic Bags...' inner is also in excellent condition.

This first pressing has the A3/B3 matrix and has the pink Island label with the 'i' logo.  The track listing on the back cover is printed as a black square which covers the original track listing which had included another track which was omitted at the last minute.

This is about as good as it gets!  The vinyl is a work of art!  It still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen and there are obviously no marks or scratches.  You would be forgiven for thinking it was brand new not over 50 years old!  As beautifully preserved that you could wish for I cannot detect any hairlines either.  The run out grooves are pristine and the pink 'i' labels are also incredibly clean with no marking.  There is a little spindle wear only.

Play grading  

The intro on 'Walk Awhile' is close to perfect with only a minimal amount of barely audible static and as the vocal begins the audio is crystal clear.  From then on the clarity and precision of the audio cannot be faulted and 'as new' is a correct description of the audio here.  Mint-

'Dirty Linen' again plays with exceptional clarity and depth from start to finish.  I cannot overstate just how STUNNING the audio is - there is not even a solitary dust tick let alone anything else.  This is Mint with a capital M!

'Sloth' once again demonstrates just how well this vinyl has been preserved over the last 50+ years.  In all honesty I cannot believe the clarity here.  There are of course so many quiet sections and yet there is just no 'background' of any kind.  No 'background' at all!  The playback is immaculate where each note is so clean and precise and this truly is audio of the highest calibre.  Needless to say this is Mint from the first note to the last.

'Sir Patrick Spens' on S2 again plays with wonderful clarity, depth and warmth and you will not be surprised to hear that there is no intrusion on the audio.  A couple of dust ticks that is all.  Another Mint track.

'Flatback Caper' is Mint from start to finish with a clarity that cannot be faulted.  I listen to every track in full so as to provide a 'complete' grading and as my regular customers know I grade with integrity and honesty as my feedback testifies.

Copy and paste 'Doctor Of Physick' is of the same 'high end' standard with no interference.  Mint

The very quiet intro on 'Flowers Of The Forest' plays perfectly and it continues to impress on every level as you progress into the track.  Despite it being the final track on the side there is no loss in sonic quality with each note playing with sublime clarity and definition.  A Mint finish to this immaculate album.

In summary this first pressing plays to a fantastic standard with NO interference.  Every now and then you discover a 50+ year old album that has been so well preserved you would think it had only been pressed yesterday.  In saying that 'new' vinyls are not even as good this as they don't have the warmth and depth of 'old' vinyl!  Perhaps even more remarkable is that this isn't un-played as there is some spindle wear but that shows even more how carefully it has been looked after.  The cover and inner provide further evidence of that.  A FINAL UPGRADE time warp classic without a doubt.

The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve

The textured E.J. Day cover is in superb condition with very minimal shelf wear.  The top edges have any rubbing and there is just a little more on bottom edges.  The wide spine is 100% legible and has only a couple of obvious 'white' marks and light wear on the corners.  The right hand corners are in great shape with  barely any wear and the opening edge is pristine.  The front cover is perfect and the back is nearly as good with just one small faint mark at the top.  The inside of the gatefold is immaculate and overall this is a stunning example of this cover.

The original 'Plastic Bags...' inner (dated 0670) is in superb shape with no side splits or tears and only minimal age related fading and creasing.  There is one spot near the top edge on the printed side.
