Description
FAIRPORT CONVENTION - " FAIRPORT CONVENTION ", Polydor Records (582035), Mono, 1968.
Extremely rare, UK first Mono pressing LP of the classic debut LP by Fairport Convention.
Issued right at the beginning of their ascent to fame, this record sold in very small quantities on release.
Original front and back laminated sleeve design, matte finished red Polydor label and matrix numbers ending in A1 and B2 (Note: the first stereo issue did have matrix numbers ending A1/B1, but by '68 mono was already becoming less of a pressing priorty, so this was the first pressing for this rare Mono variant)

Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and put in a new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner has been retained for originality- see photo)
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT (No proper/deep scratches, groove damage, excessive surface noise, distortion, etc. Clean labels with only light spindle trails. Under a strong direct light, this LP has quite a lot of paper scuffs and a couple of other faint superficial marks on the vinyl's surface - as is usually the case with these well pressed 60s LPs though, none of these slight superficial surface imperfections have any affect on playback. Plays very well indeed - strong, clear and without interruption from excessive clicks, crackles, etc... There's a minute amount of surface noise in the pressing during the silent run-in and in a couple of silences/quiet sections, but once the music starts, it disappears and it generally plays strong and clear without interuptions. Only had pretty light use in it's lifetime and has been well cared for. Not in museum piece territory sure, but as long as you're expecting a record not some sterile CD reissue, it's still a great example or a very rare original LP, ready to be plaedy and enjoyed as originally intended.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = V.G. (No rips, no tears, no defacing, or heavy ring wear . But has to be marked down for some creases in the laminate, an area of delamination on the rear sleeve eminating from the spine, also has some normal light wear to the edges and corners - see photos for further clarification)
