Exumer - Rising from the Sea (1987) Rising from the Sea is the second studio album by German thrash metal band Exumer, released in 1987. Following their critically acclaimed debut Possessed by Fire (1986), this album continues to showcase the band's aggressive, raw thrash metal style with dark, warlike themes and unrelenting intensity.
Compared to its predecessor, Rising from the Sea features a slightly darker tone and a more atmospheric approach to songwriting while still retaining the razor-sharp riffing and rapid-fire drumming that defined their debut. Paul Arakari’s guttural, forceful vocals lend a menacing edge to the tracks, emphasizing the album’s themes of destruction, chaos, and mythological imagery. Songs like "Winds of Death," "Rising from the Sea," and "Tribulation" stand out as prime examples of the album’s blend of relentless energy and an ominous atmosphere.
While not achieving the same level of recognition as some of their contemporaries in the German thrash scene, Rising from the Sea has earned cult status among fans of the genre. Its raw production and uncompromising delivery make it a beloved classic for thrash enthusiasts worldwide.
