I am parting with some of my treasured LPs. Here's a great record from Etta James. She was amazing, singing some dirty raw Rock & Soul cuts at the beginning. She was as much of a pioneer as any of the early greats, but mostly flies under the radar. This LP was a compilation of her earlier singles from the 50's from when she was on the Modern record label, that Crown Records wanted to release in 1963.
The LP looks very nice, with just a small smudge on one side. The LP is in VG+ condition, but overall shows a nice gloss, with no visible hairlines, and the cover is VG. The labels show minimal signs of wear with no spindle marks. There are seam splits on all 3 sides, the worst of which is the top. A 2" clear tape on the spine, and 2 on the top are there, and the front cover shows signs of record rubbing, but the overall cover image is beautiful.
An original record like this makes you feel the presence of the recording, and the power of her voice. It's a great LP.
I love original original pressings because I feel every LP is of it's time and place. The vinyl, and record pressings are all from that moment in time, and no re-pressing or re-mastering will ever make the sound better for me.
