RCA LDS 6065 (2)
Original Pressing
Side 1: 5S Stamper Side 2: 1S Stamper Side 3: 1S Stamper Side 4: 1S Stamper
The set grades VG+ visually Play grading on sides 1 and 4 are a strong VG to VG+
There is light background noise, but both sides play very nicely and are extremely enjoyable and listenable.
The sound quality and dynamics are amazing.
Sides 2 and 3 play grade a strong VG+ I did needle drops on these sides to check the quiet passages.
The only real scuff is on side one. It should be visible in the picture. It doesn't affect the playback.
I'm trying to reveal all of the things I noticed for full disclosure and attempting to be conservative with my description.
It may also be a good idea to clean the vinyl with a quality record cleaning machine because I'm sure that after 60 or so years, the grooves have accumulated a little bit of "stuff"
The inserts is present as well as the original RCA inner sleeves. The book is also present ans is in in very good condition with some light discoloration on the front and rear covers.
The carton has the wooden spine intact and clean. There are no tears to the cloth outer covering of the outer sleeve.
I've included as many pictures as I was allowed to post so if you'd like more, please message me and I'll send them.
I'd consider this a very acceptable copy for play. I noted two very short spots (like a second each) near the end of side one where there seemed to be a vinyl "fart" where there may be a spec of groove damage but again, I'd have no problem playing this copy for someone to listen to in my home.
Many people consider this to be the "holy grail" of the Shaded Dog RCA recordings and I can easily see why.
I'd never heard this recording before, and normally I'm not that enthused with the "Shaded Dog" pressings but THIS recording is captivating. I can definitely tell what all the fuss is about.
Classic Records and Analogue Productions have both produced reissues of this title because of its sonic attributes and great music.
These don't come around very often and their collector's "cool factor" is off the chart!
Feel free to message me with any questions.
