Erich KLEIBER nozze di Figaro MOZART
opera DECCA STEREO
Unique pre-stereo-box with stereo discs
Unique stereo edition of Kleiber’s Figaro: the discs are stereo, the back of the box mentions SXL2087-2090,
but on the cover the picture of the older mono edition. Most probably this was a stereo release that pre-dates
the boxes with the stereo box picture.
Cast and Chorus of the Vienna state opera and the Vienna Philamonic Orchestra, starring Hilde Gueden,
Suzanne Danco, Cesare Siepi, Alfred Poell, Fernando Corena.
UK, Decca SXL2087-2090. grooved, “original recording by”, original decca innersleeves,
including the booklet (with picture that appeared later on stereo edition). Appears totally unplayed,
only one disc has a clearly visible 1 inch surface mark that does not sound. BOX NM, records NM
(except for the mentioned mark on one side), sounds excellent.
