Description
Erica Morini--Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, Westminster Stereo WST 14017. With the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra of London conducted by Artur Rodzinski. On the dead wax: matrix numbers end -1H/-1C, indicative of 1st pressing.
Vinyl: Very Good++... Some seconds of very moderate surface noise at the beginning of Side A and perhaps one other place. In addition, there are low-volume ticks scattered about. The sound quality is outstanding.
Covers: Near Mint Minus... Just a hint of fraying along the spine. Otherwise quite fine with no splits, no ring-wear, very clean with a bright, glossy front graphic.
Packaging includes new audiophile inner sleeve, new outer sleeve, cardboard padding, bubble-wrap and a thick cardboard record box.
A Note on Record Grading:
Have you noticed the huge grade-inflation for classical records on E-bay? I remember selling correctly-described VG Mercurys with excellent sound but pretty consistent low background noise just a couple of years ago. Now it seems that every record is NM or NM-. Lets face it: vinyl is a very delicate medium and there are very, very few records out there without ticks and other problems. But since buyers only want NM records, well that is what they now get...maybe.
One thing that I've noticed, and perhaps this is a consumer tip: There hasn't been a similar grade inflation with respect to covers. So there are plenty of records with VG+ covers and NM- records. How does that happen? Did the previous owner throw the jacket across the room, step on it, etc. while also never handling the platter without wearing custom-made anti-static gloves? Not likely...
The unfortunate upshot for the buyer is that, at this point, there is essentially no grading of classical vinyl on E-Bay. Caveat Emptor...
